Can Strep Throat Cause OCD and Other Neurological Disorders?

In mouse studies, Strep A has been shown to cause inflammatory responses in the brain.
These may lead to number of neurological and psychiatric disorders commonly referred to as PANDAS (Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated With Streptococcal infection).

In response to repeated Strep A infection, T Cells have been found to breach the blood brain barrier and allow circulating antibodies to enter the brain, leading to an inflammatory cascade.
